How strong is AI at Cranfield?

GMK News were at Cranfield Univeristy today to see Mark Jolly, Director of Manufacturing and Materials present Wayne Thorton with his Excellence in Achievement Award for Recent Manufacturing and Materials Graduates for making siginificant progress in his career within ten years of graduating. The presentation was followed by a tour of of the Manufacturing Faculty where low cost manufacturing and nanotechnology advances were on display within the Composites Centre. Cranfield continues to committ to help businesses think green and clean and had new sustainable items on display within its Sustainable Manufacturing Systems Centre. One of the most exciting areas on show was its centre for digital engineering and Manufacturig with new virtual reality testing procedures displayed along with some use of AI. During his closing remarks, the Director confirmed Cranfield's committment to AI looking for commericial applications. 'Yes, we are with everybody in this area' he said and hinted that Cranfield was ahead in important defence AI applications.
