Brackley face an even bigger battle today than they did Tuesday night against Needham Market. Peterborough Sports are 11 th and Brackley now third with all to chase for for potential promotion. Three mins into the match, Brackley were in the Peterborough box with a hard shot on goal pushed away by the keeper.

In the 6th minute, Morgan Roberts was back in the Peterborough box with an open undefended goal destined to go had it not been again for the Peterborough keeper. In the 11 th minute, Matt Lowe lifted the ball into the air with a long shot again saved and tipped over the bar by the keeper. With Brackley having nearly all of the play in the first quarter, Brackley seemed to be showing more zest and a sense of urgency to get the required win to fight for and secure a serious stab at promotion this season. In the 16 th minutte, Peterborough countered with a weak shot outside the box which never really looked like going in. In the 21st minute, more pressure from Brackley resulted in a foul and a yellow card being given to Peterborough. The free kick which followed failed to go anywhere. By the end of the second quarter, Brackley’s pressure and dominance was still there but a little less on the boil. In the 30 th min, useful left back, Ricardo Calder, unused and not passed too for most of the first half, dribbled down the left wing and got the ball into the box ready to go in had it not been for a ball defender stoppage with a call for handball and a penalty from Brackley but not given by the referee. In the 37th minute, Peterborough had a dribble of their own into the penalty box which was quickly neutralised by the Brackley defence. Alfie Bates kept trying to ignite the Brackley attacking midfield leading runs down the centre but with final shots not linking up to the final front line of Brackley strikers in the third quarter. As the match moved into five mins before half time, Peterborough were getting a bit more of the play as the Brackley pressure continued to tire. There was one more Brackley run at goal and attempt to get the lead but it was quickly stopped, in the last minute of the first half before the referee blew the whistle and all were able to get out of the cold and take a breather from the frustrating 0-0 position.

Brackley started off the second half better for a rest and a bit of time to reflect on how to get the lead. In the 53rd another run through the midfield connected with Alfie Bates head with a threatening header which looked dangerous but went wide.

In the 61st minute , the Brackley lead finally came with a wide kick from no. 2 , George Carlin’s close to the Peterborough goal which soared into the back of the net. The home end erupted as Brackley finally delivered the goods everyone was waiting for. By the time the half way point of the second half was reached, Brackley now had the lead with little counter attack play from Peterborough who were begining to look a bit deflated. Brackley started substituting to further consolidate their position and in the 69th, Brackley were awarded a kick outside the Brackley penalty area which was poorly taken going into the air and going far wide off the goal. Scott Porlock started off the final quarter of the match with a long run from the back of the pitch into the borough sports goal mouth but was unable to connect with anybody to make all the effort and good play worthwhile. The attacking play continued to confirm where Brackley wanted to be which was in the lead and able to take the three points with a 1-0 victory. Attendance 638.
