With aptly named Boston veggie chillie on the menu, GMk News attended Brackley Town’s end of season awards ceremony. A win yesterday against Boston UTD would probably in the National League play off final would have made it a carnival atmosphere but it was far from a morgue as the club remained in high spirits as to what it can do next season. Gareth Dean skipper gave a review of the season, ‘ you have to suffer to succeed', were his opening remarks. Yesterday’s defeat after six previous attempts was certainly emotional torment. ‘ I hate losing, at chess, monopoly etc, if you keep doing the right things, you will eventually get there’, We will get stronger and we will be back there fighting to get back there in to the fifth tier’. Zak Eewen was presented with player’s player of the season award. Gavin Tavin, gave the skipper’s review of the season. We thought Saturday was going to be the moment. We were one goal away from getting there. It’s no good saying you are a gladiator charging as if we have got there but we haven’t. It’s a warrior’s call to get there to the national league. This season right from the pre season we showed the team how we wanted to play. This group of players is going where we want but we are quite not there yet. This a great transitional period for the club, I have wanted to improve the environment and culture. We have a plan in place to win the league next season and we really do it. When you really believe in something, you really can achieve it and we will’. Next year we will do it, said the skipper’s player of the season, Dwight after being presented with his award at the end of the ceremony.
