Small Away County Following
At the start of the second quarter, County started to counter attack more and get a bit more of the play. By the 20th min, MK were managing to re-assert their authority over the match as they started to try and create some more chances in the County half. In the 23rd they got another corner which was taken short and nearly led to a back overhead kick from an MK striker. The corner which followed also went very close. An MK free kick in the 25th also looked promising but County were able to withstand the onslaught.
As a side note, Mk new player, Ben Wiles, who has scored once this season since his signing in January, was rarely visible at the center of any play today.
The MK home support was quite vocal, and by the third quarter it was looking as if MK were winning both on and off the pitch. Would it stay this way second half or would County manage to claw their way back into the game? In the 35th, an Mk striker broke free in the County penalty box and looked like scoring, had he not tripped over following a clean tackle from a county defender. The half time ended 1-0 to MK New City.
Mk had more chances in the second half with a real good one in the 59th. An Mk striker was brought down in the penalty box and Paterson took the penalty but he missed.

Mk player brought down leads to missed penalty by Paterson in the 59th
The second half was turning out like the first, a match of missed opportunities, 18 MK shots to County’s one by the start of the final quarter. In the 70th min, County got a close chance of their own as they tried to turn the tide towards an equalizer. As the County fans started to become more vocal, Mk had another close shot on goal in the 74th. The match ended with cat and mouse play as MK tried to extend their lead and County push for the equalizer. In the end, MK were able to hold on and come away with an unconvincing win. They had a large amount of the play throughout the match and created a far greater number of opportunities. The best one being Paterson's failed penalty in the second half which sort of summed up the match for them. MK New City got punished for it, dropping from 4th to 5th in the League Two promotion zone. They are now six points behind leader's Bromley but with a game in hand over Swindon in third place , still look 50/50 on for making an automatic promotion place for the end of the season.
