On paper, Brackley had an easy mid week match as they faced second from bottom, near Birmingham located side Rushsall Olympic. With a run of defeats and one draw
behind Rushall Olympic, Brackley now third from top and in the chase to topple top of the league, Chester should be able to pull off a slaughter.

In the opening 10 mins Brackley came out looking for a slaughter with many attacks on goal and a shot in the 10th minute which was just saved. Then in the 11th, Austin Samuels for Rushall created a shock hit during the counter attack which hit the back of the net and silenced the mass of home fans in the away end,
At the start of the second quarter, in the 18th minute, Matty Lowe stopped the panic with an equaliser from a corner kick friom the left hand side spot. The attacks kept coming as Brackley were keen to show who was boss despite Rushall’s opening goal. In the 22nd minute, Olympic got two corners following some attacking football of their own to show that the first goal was not a fluke but nothing came of them. In the final quarter of the first half more play moved in to the Rushall Olympic end as Brackley tried to show why they were at the top of the league and Olympic at the bottom. 33rd min Brackley were awarded a free kick following a striker being brought down just outside the box. The kick when taken failed to go in but the up in pressure kept coming and was finally rewarded with Scott Pollard putting Brackley 2-1 up in the 38th. The gates then started to open when Connor Hall dribbled into the penalty box to get a shot at goal to make it 3-1 in the 43rd. All Olympic Rushall could do was hope for the half time whistle to go to stop anymore going in. In the 47th minute, first quarter of the second half, the rout continued with a penalty being awarded and Shane burn making it 4-1. In the 49th another piercing attack into the Rushall end led to the ball hitting the left hand post preventing a Brackley fifth from going in. In the 57th min Brackley’s useful striker, Morgan Roberts was substituted more to save and spare him injury than to create any tactical advantage.
Matt Lowe and Scott Pollard followed in the 63rd for the same reason. As the match moved to the final quarter, Rushall were left with an almost impossible mountain to climb to get back into the match and all they could do was wait for time to slowly evaporate to allow them to get back into the changing room and accept another defeat from a Brackley team moving up the Northern League in an opposite direction to them. In the 81st, the another nail in the Rushall coffin came when the match went 5-1. With Scunthorpe and Chester all closely together at the top with Brackley, another few would have further helped Brackley’s promotion chances for the goal difference. A 593 good midweek attendance shows growing interest as Brackley’s fortunes look rosier with tonight’s win.
