Today Brackley faced Ramsgate in a third FA cup preliminary round. A bit of cup glory could help them along as they fight for another stab, in fact seventh attempt, at achieving promotion into the National Conference after reaching the play off. . The match started well with Brackley getting most of the shots on goal. In the 37th minute, their efforts paid off with number nine, Danny Newton putting the ball into the back of the Ramsgate net.

The score stayed that way until the the second minute of the second half when Ramsgate levelled putting an abrupt end to any complacency which had begun to set in for the Saints following their first half one nil lead. Ramsgate fans who remained the more vocal from right from the start of the match, following the goal tuned up the volume in the ground with a chorus of you support is f. s. and shall we sing a song for you? Insult to injury being jibed at the home end with ‘ You are supposed to be at home’. The Saints fans responded with a few chants of their own. Fans choral contribution can have a significant effect on a team's performance on the pitch. This season, Brackley's noise has been a bit subdued but it is early days. As the clock moved towards fulltime, it looked like a replay was beckoning until the 84th minute, when Pollock put Brackley ahead opening the floodgates for another goal from Newton and Shane Byrne sealing it at 4-1. A remarkable end to a fairly average performance from Brackley for the remainder of the match. A win is a win and Brackley's dream of more cup glory in the FA cup remains in tact.
